The cemetery where Mr. Pope is buried, Frederick Douglass Memorial Park on Staten Island is in receivership and at risk of being abandoned.

There is a meeting of plot owners and interested parties on Friday, November 14th to discuss its dire condition and fate.

Where: Cromwell Center, Staten Island New York
Location: Off Bay Street in the Tompkinsville section of Staten Island
When: Friday, November 14 at 1 p.m.

Cromwell Center is located in the Tompkinsville section of S.I. which is a few blocks from the S.I. Ferry terminal.

Dade later was buried at the cemetery, as were Lucky Roberts, a blues composer; Mamie Smith, sister of singer Bessie Smith; the father of author James Baldwin, and Rose Henderson, a popular blues singer of the 1920s and 30s who recorded for Victor Records..."
