Re: Bethune-Cookman College

Thanks much ! I owe you a big bouquet of flowers or a big hug or something. This is just great information. I really appreciate this. My mother-in-law is going to flip when she sees this information. I had almost nothing on Gladys Riddle from the time she graduated from Wellesley in 1953 until her death in 1968. This is so great. I too, have learned a great deal from researching this family of Riddles that originated in Buckingham, VA. This all started when my mother-in-law asked me to research her grandmother who, she said, was a Riddle but who had died some 15 years before she was born so she knew nothing her. All she knew was that there was a Dr. Roscoe Riddle in Benton Harbor, MI who was her cousin. When I asked how was Dr. Riddle was cousin, all she knew was that her aunt had said Dr. Riddle was her cousin. She said she thought she might also be related to Gladys Riddle Hampton and Carter G. Woodson. Well, needless to say, I was intrigued, but very skeptical of her claims and set to find the truth. It turns out she was correct about almost everything she had heard. I will look into that Bethune-Cookman alumni thing but I don't have a problem believing that Gladys Hampton attended Fisk since her cousin Dr. Roscoe Riddle had attended Meharry. Gladys Hampton and Roscoe Riddle were raised together in Denison, TX.
