In Response To: Re: Schools ()
I am reliving my disappointments by reading your post. I do not call people, because I strongly feel it's an imposition to have a stranger calling about your family. So I have always sent a copy of written information about the deceased members I have researched and explained how I thought this person could be related to them. You really can't expect someone 80 years old to respond. They were brought up in the era, where you definitely did not talk to anyone about family or the past. So I personally feel you have to let that go. I have had some success by posting the full name and place of birth on Afrigeneas in the subject line. Then give names of people in the message. It took 2 years but a cousin saw it and contacted me only by email. She only did so for a 3 day period of time and stopped communicating. I don't know if I said or did something, (this was in Jan. 07), but the information she did give helped to untangle some names I would not have known. And I another thing, I don't know how but some of these postings from Afrigeneas ends up on the internet where people can find them. I thought they all stayed on the forums, but that's not the case. I've seen some of my postings.
