Eva Pinkney- Johnston SC, teacher
I've been trying to trace a member of the family that was listed as a teacher in the 1930 SC census. Eva was born in Feb 1880, Johnston SC, which is a county of Edgefield SC--where Strom Thurmond lived. Parents names were Harriet Vance Pinkney and Henry Pinkney. There are different spellings found for the this Pinkney family so don't discount any. I've been trying to figure out a way to find information from the SC Board of Education about their teacher's, that would perhaps give me a clue as to what grades she may have taught, the name of the school, the area of the school and maybe just maybe a picture. I have No picture's of the Pinkney family. Can someone help me find information, or point me into the right direction to get what I need. The Pinkney name seems to be a prominent name in SC, so I am expecting to find living relatives in or near SC. In fact if it wasn't for the 1930 census, I wouldn't have known where my grgrandma Lucy Vance was born in order to find this part of the family. She finally gave SC has place of birth. I've obtained death certificates for everyone in Eva's family accept Eva, so I am assuming she may have married and the name changed. But I keep thinking many teacher's did not marry. That may be a 'TV thingy' idea:-). Can anybody help me out?
