Barber Scotia College - HBCU
Our Time Press, a local newspaper recently printed an article: "Barber Scotia College Alumna & Friends Join Forces to Save School". The history of that college is worth preserving: Mary McCloud, founder of Bethune-Cookman College was educated there. It is located in my hometown and many of my classmates - and a few of my relatives - attended. It was a really important part of African American life in Concord for young people, especially because it was a beacon for us during the "Jim Crow" era and gave us a sense of the possibilities of better lives. The article can be viewed at the following link (I hope): http://www.ourtimepress.com/SearchDescribe.asp?NewsID=228
