I am researching a new book about Clyde Kennard, Wendell Phillips High School (Chicago) Class of 1950, who attempted to register at the University of Southern Mississippi in the late 1950s and was imprisoned at hard labor on a false burglary charge and died in 1963 from medical neglect.
A full account of his ordeal is on this website:

I am author of two books on American history:

I am trying to locate friends who knew Mr. Kennard for interviews for my book.
He was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and attended the University of Chicago.
He was a truly great American who was martyred in the struggle for civil rights for all Americans.
If you knew Clyde Kennard, could you please email me at billdoyleusa@yahoo.com
Thank you so much!
Respectfully,
Bill Doyle
