Organizations..... I have seen photos of AA gentleman dressed in what appears to be a military uniform and the time is placed between the Spanish-American War and World WarI.

The GUOOF was founded ca 1848 when the IOOF, International Order of Odd Fellows, would not allow AA membership into the IOOF. This was a benevolent organization that had a "para-miltary" look in public. They had unifroms, formed marching bands and drill teams and were a beacon in AA life from the mid 1800's to the early 1900's.
