Fisk Board of Trustees Announces Resignation of
Dr. H. James Williams
September 21, 2015
I am writing with important news. Today the Board of Trustees announced that Dr. H. James Williams has resigned his position as president to pursue other opportunities. We thank Dr. Williams for his service to Fisk. During Dr. Williams’ tenure, Fisk reaffirmed its regional accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and improved its student retention and enrollment.
Assuming the Interim Presidency of Fisk will be Frank Sims. Frank knows us well, having served as a member of the Fisk Board for 3 years. In addition, his wife, Robyn, and son, Franklin, are graduates of this great institution. Frank spent his business career at Cargill Inc., serving in numerous capacities during his 36-year tenure, including as president of the company’s North American grain division and as a corporate vice president. He currently serves on the Board of South Jersey Industries; is past Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis; Vice Chairman of the U.S. Marine Transportation System Advisory Council; and also served on the Board of Piper Jaffray, a mid-tier investment banking firm.
