(Terrence Garnett) Hi, Terrence! Do you have phone numbers with your mailing list? I'd say come up with an awesome campaign, the theme of your conversation, and HIT THE PHONES HARD! We learned in 2006 that we had to "market" our Family Reunion and we did just that. We even got in our cars and drove to the homes of relatives that lived near to speak with them in person. For those that lived out of town we contacted someone who was definitely coming and encouraged them to drive to visit other relatives living nearby and share their own reasons for attending. Trust me, when you talk with people and convey the passion that we have as family historians you can actually move them. Light a fire of family under them. Share some of the history that you plan to share at the Reunion. Find that special someone that the particular person was very fond of or would love to learn more about with them. PREACH, brother, PREACH the history of the bloodlines, the fun you plan to have. Tell them about relatives they haven't seen in years that will be there. Paint a vivid picture of what they'll be missing. Explain how important it is that they attend. The best of luck. Don't let them off easy (smile). Messages In This Thread
