Givens/Goodwyn/Goodwin Family Reunion July 29-31, 2011, Atlanta, Georgia

The Givens family--originally from Dayton, Ohio, via, Cynthiana, Kentucky and Newnan as well as several other towns in Coweta County, Georgia, is holding a family reunion in Atlanta, on July 29-31, 2011. At this reunion, we are honoring our grandmother and matriarch, Myrt Elizabeth Goodwyn Givens, who was born and lived in Coweta County Georgia, until age 12, and her forebearers. Our family is blessed and most fortunate in that we have been able to trace her ancestry back 2 generations before her birth on her paternal line--the Goodwyns/Goodwins and 3 generations before her birth on her maternal line--the Elders, Persons, and Tolberts.

My family has expressed a wish to try to find any descendants of my grandmother's family that may still be in Coweta county. One relative of particular interest to us is a Callie Elder, my grandmother's aunt, and youngest sister of my grandmother's mother, Amelia (Tommie) Elder Goodwyn/Goodwin. Callie was in listed in the 1930 census as widowed, and living in Newnan. Also Mose(s) Tolbert, Amelia's uncle, and his daughter, Luvenia (?)Bailey, both of Coweta and Meriwether Counties. On my grandmother's (Myrt's) the paternal side--Goodwyn/Goodwin, some relatives of interest would be a Q. North, and Abram or Abraham Goodwyn/Goodwin. Listed below is an inquiry I posted online a few years back naming some of my grandmother's family members. ELDER/GOODWYN/PERSONS/TOLBERT

I am looking for descendants of, or anyone who might have any information about, any of the individuals listed below. I am a descendant of Permelia A. Elder, later referred to as Amelia “Tommie” Elder Goodwyn/Goodwin also spelled Goodan/Gooden, who married a John Goodwyn/Goodwin of Coweta Co. Georgia, in August of 1890. The Myrtie Goodan (later referred to as Myrt Elizabeth Goodwin Givens) daughter of Amelia “Tommie” Elder Goodwin, was my maternal grandmother. Thanks for reviewing this query.
