Re: FAMILY CHARTS
In Response To: Re: FAMILY CHARTS (cynthia)
Ha! ha1 Cynthia, you are right. This reminds me of when I asked a family member to send me pictures of her immediate family for which she agreed. Months passed and no pictures from her. Then one day I was visiting her aunt and found an old photo of her around the age of 5. When I sent that picture to her and told her this is the picture the family will see if she doesn't respond. Well needless to say, I got all the pictures I needed from her in the same 24 hour period. We still laugh about it. Another means I have used to gather precious photos is to pay homeage to the older members of the family. A few weeks ago I visited some of the older generation in the rural areas of Snow Hill, Alabama and Furman, Alabama. I have never stayed in the area before and I spent 3 days there speaking to relatives. They were so forthcoming with photos as long as I agreed to get them back to them. Most elderly don't have scanners and computer access to send photos and they are less likely to let them out of their presence to mail them to you. But face to face, they are more trusting of the process and as a result, I have in my possession some very rare photos. As I could not visit every state where I have relatives, I found another approach of obtaining pictures to be very helpful. I personally called them a few days before the reunion to ask them to bring the photos with them to the reunion. I brought my labtop and scanner and we were both happy. They get their pictures back right away and I get my photos for the slide show. The older family members really liked this idea.
