I am so glad my suggestion was a good stepping stone. My family group no longer attends the reunion I told you abt. All of their fund raising activities was about GREED. If you go to a grocery story such as ALDI's and purchase packs of Hot Dogs and Buns..and we ALL know there is enough money in the funds to buy a better quality of meat, what makes you think anyone will pay $10 for a hot dog, chips and soda. This happened at one of their fund raiser activities BEFORE the reunion. I mean really, you have to build your clientale. And the stuff they brought to raffle, we were sitting right there listening to them deciding what price tag to put on items to start off the bidding. Folks KNOW what those items was worth. The kids didn't have a chance, cause the adults jumped in and took over to insure their child got the best item. It was just depressing.
You have to make thinks fun and economical. People have to find money to travel to these reunions.
One other idea I can come up with--if there have been older family reunion books made in the past, find out how much it would cost to have, say 2 or 3 combined into 1 booklet. Start checking in advance at Kinko's, Office Max-Depot and any other duplicating place. I get coupons from some, in the mail that will have 15% of total instore purchase, $20 off instore purchase OVER $100. When I get these coupons---I can tell you I am not spending that kind of money by myself. I give the coupons to teachers, and friends who have their own business. Their purchases bump up the next coupons and it comes to me AGAIN. So this is another way to cut buying suppiles.
REMEMBER --no electronics that will be becoming obsolete. If they need repairing, it will be difficult for the person to get the svc. IPADS, lap tops--can get upgraded. Anything that can get upgraded.
