I'd have to echo what others have said: add items like milestones (births, graduations, weddings, etc.) as well as any family reunion news. You can also spotlight a family member or a branch of your family tree. Is someone in the family particularly successful(career, church, family, charitable/volunteer work, etc.), in a way that you think would make the rest of the family proud? Include a short feature on that person and their accomplishments. People love to read about themselves!

You can also include family history, especially with a short trivia quiz with interesting facts about your family. For example, guess which uncle once met Sammy Davis Jr. Something like that. Family history trivia could include something like, guess which great, great aunt has the most descendants, etc. If your family is not too large, consider adding a family tree because people love, love, LOVE to see their names in print!

Finally, solicit suggestions and contributions for content from the family. They will be more likely to participate if they feel that they're involved.
