Our family had a falling out in 1952 when my grandfather died. We had almost no contact with cousins from one of my uncles. Another uncle lived a bit more distant, so we did not know those cousins well either.
Several years ago we started having reunions and most of the Cousins in my generation especially (55 - 70+) have enjoyed getting together and at least getting somewhat acquainted with the younger generations as well.
I say go forward with the plans. Invite everybody. Let everyone get to know each other and figure out "so that's how we're related!" and all that. Problems in the past tend to diminish as we all become older (and hopefully a little more understanding of what the older generation was going through)
