Well Melvin--the reunion came out better than expected. Thankfully I was not the head co-ordinator just a helper. Ours was a culmination of 3 ADAMS brothers descendants and branches. Word must have got because those who had not paid was going in their pockets for money. I had 2 games for prizes. The 1st was everyone got a ticket and a number was called from those. That got folks attention. There was a big wrapped box next. The catch to winning this was I had a writing quiz. 18 questions about our past and present. I noticed the young going to the elders asking 'who is this". I told all TRY to answer the questions. Some completely gave up. Even if they didn't know the answers just writing 'I don't know' next to each question, would have put them in the running. I had at least 2 questions that everyone could answer, 1. are you getting help with this. 2.Are you cheating. Well only had 2 people out about 50 who made efforts to answer all. From that the youngest child drew the winning name. I made an annoucement before hand that the gift came from my travels to Africa. The person who won was the Oldest of one of the Adams brothers, and he is the one who is really very interested in his past. So you have to use all types of bribery to get people interested in the dead and make a family reunion more about ancestors than EATING.
