Re: Family History Discrepancies
In Response To: Family History Discrepancies ()
Hi Nathania,
For example, I have a 83-year-old cousin (grandmother's first cousin) who is a genealogical goldmine. She remembers a LOT because she was known as the "nosey" one in the family. We've become VERY close over the years, and she has shared a lot of things with me. Well, my great-great grandparents (her grandparents) had 15 children. After years of talking with her, she finally disclosed to me this year that when she was growing up, it was rumored that the 4th child was not really fathered by my great-great grandfather. The "true" father of this child happens to be another family member, but on a different side. She asked (begged) me to not disclose this information, as very few in the family living now are aware of this. I've personally decided that this "secret" piece of information will remain a secret. A lot may not agree with my decision, but it is a choice I am making. It could be that the rumor is untrue, so I don't want to print something as "drastic" as this since it is this kind of rumor.
