Re: Branch descendants
In Response To: Branch descendants ()
I am still researching my Branch line also. It has me stuck at 1870 with my great-great-great grandmother, Amanda Branch. Amanda is found in 1870 in Haywood Co Tn age 27 living with a Polly Porter age 28. Amanda has children, G.A., (F), Jonas and Fillis. Amanda and Polly both are born GA. I have not been able to find any marriage record for an Amanda marrying a Branch or possibly a Porter marrying a Branch. I have not been able to determine if Polly and Amanda are sisters. Amanda is found again in 1880 listed as a widow with additional children Jacob, Henry and Mary (my great-grea grandmother). By 1900, Amanda ha married her neighbor Jim Allen and they have children Levia and Humphrey. All of Amanda's Branch children's father's birth place was TN. I tried to tie Amanda back to Ga, but that wa like a needle in a haystack. I looked at a map to see what counties in GA bordered Haywood Co TN. Nothing! I tried looking for a death certificate for Amanda's daughter, Mary (my gr gr grandmother) and still nothing. I found Mary's tombstone, but no ties to who her father is. So far, I have not had any connections in SC, but who knows since I don't know who the Branch father is. The majority of my Branches remained in western TN and many still are there. One day, I will take more time to think things out that I have in black and white and maybe I can find a tiny bit of a clue, because that's all I need. I'll keep your post as a reference, who knows..... ***Regina***
