This is very true! The larger the block you have the better deal you are able to negotiate. I was lucky with NO, had we been a week or two earlier we would have had to pay $20 more a room/per night. One of girlfriends who works at Hilton (parent of Embassy) reminded me to make sure that I had everything printed out in my contract. So if you have a block of 35 rooms and your demand goes over that you should make sure that they expand your block with at the same room rate. Many of my members made the reunion part of their vacation so they were there a couple of days before the reunion and a couple of days after. My contract included 1 complimentary room for every 50 sold and I only had to pay for a set up fee with the reception because I had placed a food order. Talk about details (smile). Plus by getting the hotel locked in early, you get the better rates in the event there is an increase. Make sure that you ask them about the potential of locking in your rates against an increase. The early bird gets the worm was never wrong!
