I have to tell you that creating a family reunion book and placing pictures next to names in the pedigree chart is a success story. I finally finished our book. My 1st one in 2000 had 7 pages of pedigree and no pictures. I didn't know at that time the Family Origins 6.0 program I was working with installed the scanned pictures. I delivered the books to new found family and watched a grgrgrandbaby of my gr grandfather -look thru it. This cousin is abt 14. In his mind family reunions are about dead folks. His grandmother was there and explained about her father his grandfather. He felt,if you haven't met them they don't exist. Well as he paged through his comment was--these pictures don't look like these people are dead. Who are they. I happily said these people are your family. They are not dead. The only one's who are dead are the one's who have the 'D' by their name. So he went back to the beginning and started READING. Halleluyah.!! Interest is there. I had tried to get everyone to fill out pedigree charts-his father did not do so. This young man's information is not in the chart. I will change that at the reunion. PICTURES WITH NAMES--that's one way of getting the young interested.
