The descendants of Phillip and Lucy Morgan Beene will hold its annual family reunion on July 22-24, 2005 in New Orleans at the JW Marriotte Hotel located on 614 Canal Street. In December 1849, Phillip and Lucy Morgan Beene and some of their children and grandchildren were brought from Mantachie, Itawamba County, Mississippi to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana in the area of what eventually became known as the Bethel Community, approximately four (4) miles southeast of Haynesville, Louisiana. The Beene Family Annual Reunion began in the early 1960's by descendants of Calvin Beene, the youngest son of Phillip and Lucy, who was taken back to Mantachie, Missisippi in 1852, which separated him from his parents. At last year's family reunion, descendants of Phillip and Lucy from Louisiana and Mississippi were reunited for the first time since 1852.
