Re: Stay Motivated!!!!!
In Response To: Re: Family Newsletter as an alternative? ()
I have learned the best way to maintain contact with family and encourage participation is to continue the phone calls and attend other reunions of various branches. Cousins feel left out when they heare the excitemnet in your voice.
Just as Melvin, Carmen and Cynthia suggested, this year's cancellation is a lessson learned as to the work and committment needed for any successful reunion regardless of how many attend. Do not allow the failure to take over your desire and enthusiam about your family, instead allow this to be the stepping stone and motivation for next year.
Now you are ahead of the game, by maintaining contacts now, you can form a committee for 2006. You can even begin sending correspondence out now for next August and this allows for prime planning and cost estimation for everyone.
A newsletter is also a good start by sharin ginformation from everyone with everyone!! I began with researching my roots, which led to one family reunion and now to 11 family reunions. My family is so huge, but I am classified as the family historian for all the families, simply because I continued with my search and reunion endeavors.
Stay in the race, and others will catch up to you. Just remember, reunion consists of more than one family, so if only two families are involved -you are still getting together. Stay encouraged and conitinue to sahre your enthusiam with others.
