Neither do I have old pictures of many of my ancestors so I use a comparable picture like the ones you see of sharecroppers picking cotton back in the 1920s or 1930s. If your ancestor was a farmer, sharecropper, find a pic on the internet that might help flesh them out. Gather pictures of the home they lived in, the street they lived on, a map where they lived, a school they may have attended. How about a pic of the ship they served on or the military base they trained at? I borrowed a group photo of some black WWI soldiers and attached it to my grandmother's brother who served in France in WWI. One of the soldiers bears a striking resemblance to Uncle Bud...it could have been him since it was the same unit. Who knows? I even drew a picture of my mother's paternal grandmother based on her description of how she remembered her. Messages In This Thread
