IT IS OVER and went very well.We met in Morganton,NC. Friday nite had a Meet and Greet. Saturday was a great Day.!Spent most of that day in Lenoir NC at Fort Defiance. We had a picnic meal that was out of sight. :D The Director of Fort Defiance and her crew made Croissant Chicken Salad sandwiches, cornbread salad( very delicious) fresh fruit and numerous desserts. I fell in love with the Lemon Bars. :D After the picnic, we were given a tour of Fort Defiance which was the former home of Gen William Lenoir( our last slave owner). Then we were taken to Patterson School for a Power point History presentation of the slaves of Gen Lenoir. Most informative!!.The Lenoirs kept such detailed records that I feel we will uncover more history regarding our forefathers.
Saturday evening, we had our annual banquet at the Hotel. We had four new Lenoirs: two from Lees Summit Mo, and two from Vallejo,Calif. We ar definitely growing.
The sad note is my friend and Sis as I call her died the day before I left. Her GGF Tom Lenoir owned my GGF Uriah so we became very very close. However, I believe she would have been very pleased with the way things turned out.
Sunday, we had Worship Services with the St James Church of God in Morganton, NC. It was their annual Homecoming with Patterson Chapel of Wilson, NC. Rev Hunter did a Fantastic job on " Never seen the Righteous Forsaken or it's seed begging for bread". It was a GLORIOUS way to end a Family Reunion.
I think all the headaches and frustrations were eradicated at the end of Sunday Worship Services. :b
However, I did resign my position as Secretary for I really do not wish to do that anymore. :( I have a book to write and more history to uncover :b
