Re: Losing Attendance
In Response To: Re: Losing Attendance ()
We don't even hold it in one city / place every year. It rotates between GA (usually the ATL area), NC (usually my hometown, which is near Charlotte), and the DC area on a yearly basis so no one person / group has to host every year. And if anybody outside one of those three areas wants to host, they can. These are the three areas where grandmom's side settled and was decided upon after they were included and granddad's side for lack of a better word was ousted.
When it was just granddad's side of the family, it wasn't very formal and rotated between my hometown in NC and the area in NC where my granddad's brother settled. After my granddad and his older brother (he only had two siblings and his half-brother stayed in GA) migrated out of GA to NC, they lost touch for the most part with family that remained in GA. Even though it gets hot, etc. here in NC during the summer months, a lot of us long for those reunions from the 60s and early 70s. They were simple and we were truly family and from my prespective the best two that we have had of late were a throw back to those early ones, simple.
