In our past reunions, we have requested deposits as well. Those deposits have enabled us to pay for some pre-reunion costs like letters, deposits, etc.

You are right. If you have a record of handling the funds responsibly, then more family members are at ease in sending in their deposits and fees beforehand.

I like that reunion planner idea too!
