In Response To: Re: The Evoloution of a Family Reunion ()
Hello All, My Adams Family celebrated with our 89th Annual Adams Family Reunion this past Labor Day weekend in Columbus, OH. A full weekend of activities that culminated with the Sunday "gathering".
Then from the "Adams Time Machine" out pops Lewis Adams and he immediately starts telling them the history of his and his wife Susan's life from slavery to freedom in the early 1800's. Lewis then names his & Susan's parents, their 10 children, their involvement in the early A.M.E. church (1824), starting a school for "colored youngun's (1844), their UGRR activities (1820-1860). He then explains the life of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren..... their trials, tribulations and acomplishments. Then 8 young Adams descendants appear with posters containg the names of Adams descendants who have distingushed themselves in the areas of Academics, Arts, Athletics, Education, Medicene, Politics, Religion and most of all Community Service. Lewis then explains to them their resposibility in learning their family history and to carry on the "Adams Tradition" of service to their communities as Adams Descendants. The 2 youngsters then somewhat ashamedly admit that the Adams Family had done sumpin' and how it was going to be their turn to do sumpin'.
