Family Reunion Forum
Since my family strongly favors paying per event rather than one set cost for the entire reunion, it definitely requires good record-keeping for each event. With little headaches, I have used Microsoft Excel, setting up a spreadsheet for each event. We generally have one event on Friday, two events on Saturday, and one on Sunday. However, in 2004, we started on Thursday with a family roots trip to our ancestor's birthplace.
In the spreadsheet, I input formulas to automatically calculate the costs. If in the John Doe Family, 2 adults, 2 children between age 6 and 15, and 1 child 5 years old & Under are attending the event for Friday, their names (head of household) and attendance numbers are inputted and the cost is automatically calculated in another column. We haven't had many problems with family members sending in the incorrect total. During registration, the people at the registration table each has a printout to verify who paid for what.
This could be a good topic for the board and helpful to the reunion planners. How do you and/or your family handle the record-keeping? Are there any good softwares especially made for Family Reunions?
