Thanks for the compliment...the Tree was a work of Art (pun intended) . Attached is a URL for Printable Family Trees.
Seriously, it was done using the Family Tree Maker software.
The length (Horizontal) will depend on the lergest number of children in any given generation. The height (Vertical) will depend on the number of generations portrayed. Each individual box contained the name, birth, marriage & death date and location, as appropiate. Our Tree went to the 5th great-grandchild.
The FTM program printed this tree in 300+ 8 x 11 1/2 sheets. The sheets were "marked" and had to be sequenced into 3 rows 100 sheets each and the taped continously both horizontally (100) and then vertically (3 deep). A big job that I don't want to do again.
How long did the research take? I have been researching my family history, this Adams line in particular for about 15 years. The sad thing about these Trees is that they are out-dated before you even get them printed as more and more data becomes available and then there are newer biths, marriages, deaths, divorces, etc. So the Trees are "static" as of a given data.
What ever you decide on how to produce your Tree I wish you the best and I'm sure your family will be satisfied and appreciative.
p.s. the above example are descendants from only ONE family line. Trees for multiple families is another problem.
