Good Morning, Muhammad,
Do you know if your Great Grandfather Robert Robertson (Robinson) was born in Texas? And if yes, do you know what city and county? I'm just wondering because you say your Grandfather says that he knew he had relatives in Arkansas. I'm trying to figure out if they originated there or moved there from somewhere else?
Where was Mary RICHERSON born at? Names is ringing too many bells.
I don't know as much as I plan to eventually know about my Robertsons but, I'll share the basics as briefly as possible (smile). I knew all my life that my Great Great Grandmother's name was Sally NORRIS and that she had been born a ROBINSON and I had the names of two of her brothers "Dink & Early". So I looked and looked for Sally ROBINSON and finally an angel led me and I now have a copy of her marriage record and her name is spelled SALLIE ROBINSON. It wasn't until I found her in the 1870 Census at 3 years old that I discovered the entire family was shown as ROBERTSON.
In the 1870 Precinct 4, Upshur Co., TX, my Great Great Grandmother Sarah (often used for Sally) Robertson is 3 years old and her parents are LUCY (born in AL) and HENRY (born in TN) ROBERTSON. LUCY is shown as LEVISA but it's her. There are 5 other children in the house. Not far away in the same census year and precinct is A. ROBERTSON (ANDERSON) with wife Mary. A ANDERSON, I strongly believe to be the brother of HENRY. They are both from TN and both name their children and those names are still in my family.
Mary and Anderson have 2 kids in their house, a single female same age as Mary (25) along with two white doctors surnamed SPRATT.
Both couples, Lucy & Henry ROBERTSON and Mary & Anderson ROBERTSON are also shown in the 1880 census for the same county, precinct, state. In 1870 Mary Robertson is shown as having been born in TN but in 1880 it says she's from AL? I'd want to see her in another census year or two to make a guess at her birthplace but, both brothers HENRY and ANDERSON are from TN.
I loose track of Henry & Lucy in 1900 but, Mary & Anderson are still there in Precinct 2, Upshur Co;,TX. Anderson is age 59 and Mary at age 57. In the 1880 Census Henry ROBERTSON was 45 years old.
In 1870 LUCY (24) & Henry's (32) kids are: Mitchel, Sarah 'Sallie', Lucca 'Lucy', Wafford, Branson
In 1870 Mary (25) & Anderson's (26) kids are: James and Betsey.
In 1880 Lucy (35) & Henry's(45) kids are: Mitchel, Sarah, William, Lilly, David B. 'Branson', Charley, Early and Maly.
In 1880 Mary (40) & Anderson (41) kids are: William, Sarah, and Hulah.
In 1900 May and Anderson have a 29 yr. old daughter in their home named Ella Wofford with her 3 children, Robertson Grandchildren: Anderson (8), Lucinda (4) and Benny (11) Wofford.
Please let me know if this rings any bells for you or either a family elder perhaps?
Yes, I've been able to track some of GrGrGrandma Sallie's sibblings children into the later 1900's and found quite a few still living still in Mt. Pleasant, Fort Worth, TX and some in southern California. On my Norris Family Blog there is a photo of EARLY ROBERTSON with wife, DORA ANN RICHERSON ROBERTSON and their children. The short piece is titled "Feet Don't Fail Me Now . . .:. To find it go to the link below:
and on the lower left hand of the first screen are the sections of blog pieces. Click on TRACING FAMILY TIES and once on that page, scroll down to the title: Feet Don't Fail Me Now. Perhaps there are family resemblances or someone in your own family may have the same photo.
Also, wanted to ask you whee is Atlanta, Texas? Is it near Marshall or Mt. Pleasant?
