I like this one also:

Serve a big bowl of M&Ms.
Hand folks a cup to scoop their own but tell them not to eat yet.
There will be some who will grab a lot and some just a few.
Have them count the number of M&M they took. Everyone should take at least two even if they don't want to eat them.
Write it down.

Then each person has to tell something about themselves, their childhood, parents, origin, etc. The number of things they have to tell is determined by the number of M&Ms they took, but they didn't know this before hand. That's the fun part. Folks that took a half cup will start trying to eat up or throw some away. Got to catch them and besides, you wrote the number down! Ha!!

It's good especially with young children around because they get to hear family history while they wait their turns. Older family get to interrupt their siblings with laughter about a story they tell, and everyone learns something about each other.
Warning; It could cause laughter so great your stomach hurts.
