Communication is the key to a successful reunion. We meet every other year and I spend a lot of time contacting families either by phone, mail or e-mail between reunions. I'm always working on the ones that have never attended one. Also, one of the things that we do is have a local family reunion in each state on the off year, this also gets people interested in coming to the main reunion. Right now our state coordinators are meeting with the families in their areas encouraging them to attend. We give out plaques for 1st person to pay fee, oldest, youngest, traveled the farthest. This year we are adding a catergory, the state that has the most attendees, excluding the host state. We have thirteen branches of the decendants of Rev. Bryd Travis. The branch that have the most attendees get the top honor. A traveling plaque. Every year the main competition is to get this top honor. Everyone wants to win, so everyone encourages everyone else to attend, so that they can go home as winners. We also pay tribute to our family members over the age of 75, they don't pay any fees. They also get complimentary gifts along with their t-shirts, but they have to attend the reunion to get the gifts. If they are to ill to travel, we send the t-shirt and reunion book to them. Every year that 75 and over group gets bigger and bigger.
