I have found that my family is WELL documented!!!!!
I had found a connection to my ggggrandfather by accident. I was looking at a census and realized that there was another "Henderson " on the page. Funny how when you find the one you're looking for, you sometimes don't look at others on the page. After searching this other Henderson, I found he was connected to my Henderson so I started looking at where both of their parents were born and realized I was probably looking at a "brother" of my ggggrandfather. Sure enough after looking more I realized that there was still another Henderson who was old enough to be their father. When I searched him, I found a marriage record in 1865 Freedom Bureau.
I have posted queries on the Surname Forum because I'm trying to figure out if the wife could possibly be my gggggrandmother. She was older than him (but my ggggrandmother was also 2 years older than my ggggrandfather so that's nothing. Then on my paternal side, my ggrandfather's first wife was older than him also.)
My ggggrandfather was born a slave so I'm thinking that the 1865 record was just to register an already marriage. The thing that lets me know that I'm following a true path is that all the Hendersons lived near each other all their lives. Julia Henderson married John Thomas in 1889 thus becoming my gggrandmother.
I'm just excited!! This is giving me something to do to occupy my time until whatever is going to happen in July...happens. Ha!
