I understand your fear and concern. Myself along with a few others of my first cousins are hosting our families first family reunion. It has been very interesting for me because I have met many relatives that I never met as well. With me working on the family history portion for the reunion, I have been the one contacting many of the family members that I have yet to met in person. The good thing about us all getting together is so that we can met and know our history. I have met other family members that have help me with my quest to piece together our family history. I think that even if we were not the ones doing this reunion and it was another member that I have not met, I would go so that I could get to learn more about my history.
