WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Family reunion organizers, committee members, family members or anyone contemplating starting a reunion or wanting to renew or gain new ideas; everyone who likes learning about history, culture and/or social issues as they relate to the family; everyone and who just loves the family!

WHAT DO YOU GET FOR YOUR MONEY?
Cost $175 for workshops Friday and Saturday, two continental breakfasts, gala reception, two special presentations, Friday and Saturday luncheon and Sunday Worship Service and the organizers are planning more! Families or non-profit groups who register four or more, seniors and students (with valid ID) cost $125 per person. All registrants will receive a subscription to Reunions Magazine.

Following is a tentative list of workshops, in alphabetical order:

1. Caring For Our Children
African Americans have always shown resilience in caring for and adopting our own.. But there are new wrinkles and new concerns as we see that African American children are also disproportionately in the public child welfare system

2. Family: An Association
Families begin to grow and become more structured over time. They incorporate, develop bylaws, develop scholarships, form family businesses, invest collectively and organize themselves into chapters. Self-help becomes a byword. This workshop will examine various methods of family reunion decision-making and empowerment.

3. Family.Internet.Web
Using the computer for finding family members, researching family history and family web sites.

4. Finding the Rest of Me
Have you been asked to be the family historian ? This workshop will present basic ideas to start researching your history. Learn the excitement of finding an ancestor.

5. From Bach to Hip-Hop
How do you get young people involved so they can organize the reunion? And how about getting everyone involved? Techniques for making each generation feel in tune.

6. Organizing Your Reunion
The nuts and bolts, includes who, what, where, how to get members involved. Learn what Convention and Visitors Bureaus offer and how to negotiate with hotels.

7.Organizing Your Reunion II: Building on the Foundation
A more detailed look at the necessary committees and their responsibilities; communication techniques, teleconferencing. Also fundraising ideas and how-to do them.

8.Preserving Memories- Scrapbooking
Scrapbooking preserves memories but is no longer just about pasting pictures in albums. Bring photos to use in the workshop.

9 Roots and Remedies
Understanding our medical history has become very important. How to get information and how to have a health seminar at your reunion. Have fun with hearing about old-fashioned remedies that really worked.

10. Telling the Story
Learn fun and interesting ways to gather and tell family history. This workshop will acquaint you with writing plays, taking really good photographs, and even one more way to use the quilt to tell the family story.

Family Spirituality
A tradition of this conference is a Sunday Worship Service to celebrate the diversity of religious faiths in our families. The procession of Clergy and representatives of many different denominations and world religions will be followed by words from each.

Speak Out. Will focus on a couple of issues that most families have concerns about such as Why do people not register and then show up and expect to eat?

Vendors and exhibitors will be present Friday and Saturday.
