Involving the Young Generation
This year at both of the reunions I was involved with, we took time to recognize the young folk for their accomplishments. We wanted to find ways to get the younger generation excited about their family reunions. Unfortunately, many still consider family reunions boring when there is little to no activity that involves them. We have to change this. If they lose interest, what will the future of family reunions be? We also took time to involve the young in a spiritual dance, in which they had a LOT of fun. We hope that they'll leave the reunions always looking forward to the next one. What a thrill to hear my 9-year-old niece say, "I can't wait until the next reunion!"
How do you all involve the youth/young adults in the family reunions? Let's share ideas so we may all draw from them and consider them for our next reunions.
I also decided to place a link on my main family's website of the 19 youth/young adults that were honored at my reunion. I figured that it's an additional way to show them that the future of our reunion rests with them. Check them out. We are very proud of them!
