I am a little outdone! I have been working with my two family reunions (maternal and paternal) for close to 10 years now and believe me there are only a handful of relatives who could afford that plus travel, lodging, and other expenses. IF they have children, forget it = they can't do it - not at those prices. They are complaining about paying anything (some still think we need to fry some chicken and have it in the backyard) and others don't want to go over $100. per person or family. One of my groups has been trying to go on a cruise for 6 of those 10 years and finally managed to get a small group together to do so this year. This group has lost allot of attendance as a result and may not be able to recapture the families lost. While the boat ride sounds great most of the family, particularly, the senior citizens are on fixed incomes so they would have to have a great sponsor. Wre they having fundraisers to offset the costs? Family reunions are all about getting the family together so in essence we should try to be realistic and keept things reasonable. All I can say is - if they can pull it off - more power to them. THey are in a small group!
