Keep it short. Trust me, people hate long speeches. If the speech drags on and on about details, some will stop listening. That doesn't mean that they are not interested in what you are saying, but long speeches are not favorable. Also, since you will have a write-up in the reunion book, you don't necessarily have to talk about every detail of the family. You can encourage the family to read the write-up to learn more key facts.
Do you think it'll be possible to do a PowerPoint Presentation? That will go over well. You can show several key documents that you have found in your research, and any old pictures that you have. People love pictures! Just the fact that you've traced the family back further than anybody has, your family will be fascinated and will be happy that you are there. So, just relax and enjoy your family.
Since this is your first time with the family, in your introduction, express the passion you have for tracing the family history...when you got started..and express your happiness for being there to disclose to the family some of the things you've uncovered. This is just a suggestion. You can also talk about the importance in knowing our history.
Let us know how the reunion turned out! Have a great time!
