Hopkins Reunion A Success
Thanks to all who provided me encouraging words as I prepared for my reunion that was held on July 1st,2nd, and 3rd in Greenville, NC. It was such a success that family members gave me gifts to show their appreciation. You know good news travel fast and for those who didn't come because of their attitudes, well they've missed a great time.
On a not so positive note, my mother and I went broke. We had about 13 family members who didn't pay a dime, also, members of the entertainment ate dinner at the banquet in which we did not consider that in our budget. And, the group that I sung in for the talent show, "The Supremes" one of the singers backed out three hours before the event, however, my cousin quickly redid the dress so that it can fit a 10 year old. We did a quick practice in the bathroom and peformed successfully.
My mother and I planned to host the reunion about 5 years from now, however, we are thinking about making it a one day event and hiring caters so that we can enjoy the reunion ourselves. I had fun, but so many conversations went interrupted because as a hostess you want to make sure everything is moving along.
I stayed positive and kept a cool head, I refused to let the devil interfere. Seems like everytime something negative occures, something positive picked it back up.
For all of you who still have reunions coming up, STAY POSITIVE!!
