It is likely that the earliest family reunion may not be documented and therefore remains unkown.
Using the biblical record we find family reunions between Joseph and Jacob, his father and the whole of thier houses. Regarding documented family reunions.
The Fairbanks family has deep and distinguished roots. The Fairbanks House, which was built in 1636 for English-born Jonathan Fairebankes, is the oldest surviving timber-frame house in North America. Eight generations of Fairbankses lived in the house, until Rebecca Fairbanks was forced to sell in the late 1800s. The family's annual reunion began in 1902 to celebrate repurchase of the house from developers.
The abolition of slavery in the South also helped the rebirth of the family reunion among africans on american soil. Slaves brought their heritage and a strong commitment to family and tribal culture to the US.
