Dear All,
This is my second time co-hosting my family reunion along with my mother --Hopkins Family Reunion. Our reunion is scheduled for July 1-3, 2006 in Greenville, NC.
We've decided to charge a reasonable amount. I've had a nice brochure created. For entertainment, I have a gospel group and gospel comedian, bought items for goodybags and giveaways. Last, I found genealogy information and has put together a booklet of our family tree.
I tried to make the reunion seem fun and exciting event. But despite all of that, I have a group of family members who have no desire to attend a family reunion. Plus, the money is slow coming in.
I know that I over spent, but I wanted to make sure that this was a nice event to attend. Do you have any suggestions on how to get family members to attend? I even made personal visits to people's home and made phone calls. I event wrote to the oldest child in this particular family to invite her siblings and their families to the event and asked her to forward family mailing addresses, but I received no respsone. Has anyone ever had this problem? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your response.
