Re: Black Health

If you go to the clinics or talk to your Doctor, they are more than willing to provide literature. B U T, I have seen a lot of us just take these papers and trash them. So the next idea is at the banquet or an activity where everyone must sit before or after an activity that requires all to be present, ask one of these clinics or a Doctor to come and speak. When it comes to food, and a black family 'food throw down', a lot of speakers will love to come for free, just to eat and enjoy. Many doctor's are curious about how we celebrate and can be instrumental in guiding future menu's. Our seniors distrust doctor's so if they can listen to someone and then feel comfortable enough about getting that 1st visit out of the way with a familiar 'friendly' doctor or nurse, that becomes a plus.
AND by the way. There are many, many families who's seniors have not signed up for this Medicare Part D, AARP has information on line and in their newspaper explaining more simply what it's about. Picking up a phone and ask your local pharmacy to guide you to a choice. Make Sure your senior members or friends, join BEFORE or on May 15. It's better to be in the plan and be able to cancel than, not have and prescription medication protection. Help those neighbor friends sign up with a plan. IT'S IMPORTANT.
