The Auburn Avenue Research Library will host famed journalist and author Cameron McWhirter, who will discuss his latest publication, Red Summer: The Summer of 1919 and the Awakening of Black American, a narrative that chronicles the unprecedented wave of anti-black riots, lynchings, and racial unrest in the South, North, and Midwest areas of the United States from April to November of 1919, which would spark the beginning of a civil rights movement that would later transform American society.
