Accomack County VA is on the Eastern Shore of Virginia bordering Northampton Co. VA and the Maryland Counties of Worcester and a small part of Somerset, MD. Accocmack County was under UNION Army control during the Civil War hence the Cenus in 1864 Census for the White and Colored Population of Accomack County The 2 volumes of census of white and colored population county 1864 , I (154) and 2 (155) , are arranged under the headings "white" and "colored". This census appears on Family Search # 4151196 http://api.familysearch.org/records/waypoint/6960915 (NARA Microfilm Reel # 74 in the Descriptive Pamphlet) The census begins on image #753 to #873- the cover of the ledger Image No.#754 - This is written on the left side of the inside of the cover "This is the white list (colored in book no. 155) but it seems that chiefly of those living at Accomack C.H. (Drummondtown) and north thereof.
