I agree that Nathan Bedford Forrest was/is a questionable character to be naming schools or towns after -- I researched him a bit after reading abt Fort Pillow and doing some research around Forrest City, Arkansas --- there was a Pillow plantation near there-- a few years ago.

I believe the noble language of the "Precept" was the work of Gen. George W. Gordon , who after the war was a lawyer.
