I have a contract very similar to this. After reading the one found for gr uncles and and grandparents it looked to me the only way they were able to get from under owing the 'holder of the crop and land' any moneys were to die are sneak out of town. The contracts (2) I found did not even allow them to grow their own food on the same land. Sharecropping was slavery all over again. How did they survive?
