In Response To: A new look at the WPA - the FWP
(lyndam) I am currently reading I Was Born In Slavery:Personal Accounts of Slavery In Texas edited by Andrew Waters. This book is only a small portion of the over 500 interviews done for the state of Texas. (Thanks for the book Jen) In another slave narrative series I may have found a connection to Adaline Cunningham from Lavaca County , one of her descendants Cherry Belle Cunningham married one of my great uncles Richard Conway. I am still documenting the connection. Has anyone been able to uncover a former slave owner, confirm a family history story or just locate ancestors from using a slave narrative? Or have any studies been done to prove the validity of a slave narrative with documents? I have these "what if" genie wishes for miracles such as a copy of the 1890 census for Texas being found and the other is for a direct ancestor to have been interviewed by the WPA .
