How many of us know where our ancesters were from 1863 to the first census 1870.I wish I knew that because just saying on the census that they were born in Alabama does not cover all of Alabama.I know my ggrandfather came out of Lawrence County Ala.and winded up in Madison County Alabama but where was he in 1863.He already had one daughter who was born in 1862.It is a shame that the African American was not in the census until 1870 unless they were free.I know where he was in 1866 and 1867 but before that it's blank. He was not on the Freemens roll. Anna
