Wow, Art. Thanks so much for sharing. Those are very powerful testimonies of the seriousness with which we took our right and our active participation in the political process. These two threads (this and the one on the 1867 Voter Registration) have demonstrated that voting records, including the 1867 Voter Registration, newspapers and court records are three ways in which to secure information on our relatives' voting/political experiences during this period. Interesting to learn of the "visible admixture act" re: Mr. Ford: http://books.google.com/books?id=0npDAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA22&dq=visible+admixture+act&lr= I'd never heard of that before-- certainly things very similar in our history, but not that particular one pertaining to voting.
