1874 Texas killings?

In his posthumanus autobiography killer John Wesley Hardin made a claim that on May 1, 1874
he knocked down one negro; and shot another one; and then a few days later was part of a mob that burned a jail with a negro prisioner named Eli inside. {Possibly in Commanche County}
Can these claims of his be confirmed?
