You are absolutely correct. Pinkney's mother was Eliza Stewart. Eliza was 1/2 Black and 1/2 Indian. She and Major William PINCHBACK had a total of 10 children. There is speculation that they did indeed marry, however no record is found. Eliza did continue to use the PINCHBACK name and did her and William's children.
William left his first wife, Lavenia Rudd Pinchback to live the rest of his life with Eliza. He is buried in Mississippi on a high hill overlooking the land he once owned there.
Major William Pinchback was my GGGgrandfather through his first wife, Lavenia Rudd.
